Postdocs Move to Grad School
The Office was transferred to the OVPR in July, 2009 as part of the restructuring of graduate education. Its return to the Graduate School will enhance postdocs' access to initiatives relevant to both postdocs and graduate students, such as career development, networking and success in scholarly research.
The Graduate School will work collaboratively with the Postdoctoral Association, a separate organization, to improve the quality of the postdoctoral experience. Such collaboration was celebrated in 2009 when The Scientist named the University of Minnesota one of the best workplaces for postdocs, in part because of the strength of mentoring by faculty and opportunities for professional development. Associate Dean of Graduate Education, Melissa Anderson, will coordinate program activities with the postdocs.
