2016 Welcome & Orientation
Welcome and orientation for new graduate and professional students
The Graduate School will host a Welcome & Orientation event on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Northrop. It is open to all incoming graduate and professional students and is intended to complement orientations provided by programs and colleges, with a focus on all-university resources.
Sessions for doctoral students will be held in the morning; sessions for master's and professional students will be held in the afternoon. All students are invited to attend the Resource Fair from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.: Check-in for doctoral students
- 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Sessions for doctoral students
- 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.: Resource Fair
- 12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m.: Check-in for master's and professional students
- 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: Sessions for master's and professional students
Breakout sessions will introduce incoming students to valuable information and resources at the University level. Sessions will address such topics as professional development; working with your advisor; library resources; and wellness and self-care in graduate school.
Approximately 40 departments and organizations will participate in the resource fair, including Graduate Student Services and Progress/One Stop, Boynton Health Services, the Center for Writing, International Student and Scholar Services, and the Office for Diversity in Graduate Education.
