Diversity Office renamed following move to Grad School

The Office for Diversity in Graduate Education has been renamed the Graduate School Diversity Office, effective immediately. This name change follows the Office’s move from the Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) to the Graduate School in October, 2016.

Because diversity in all forms leads to the evolution of scholarship and knowledge, it is a major priority for the Graduate School. Earlier this year, we hired an associate dean for graduate education, Yoji Shimizu, Ph.D., to lead our diversity efforts. He is supported in the Graduate School by a dedicated and experienced team: Noro Andriamanalina, Ph.D., Director of Academic and Professional Development, Community of Scholars Program (COSP); Derek Maness, M.A., Director of Outreach and Recruitment; Karla M. Padrón, Ph.D., Program Coordinator, COSP Writing Initiative; and Liang Xiong, Executive Assistant/Office Manager.

We believe that the realignment of the Diversity Office with the Graduate School allows us to more effectively meet our collective goals in the recruitment, funding, retention and graduation of a diverse graduate student body.

Please note that the Diversity Office website has moved from OED to the Graduate School and has a new URL:
