COGS President's Award

Sally Gregory Kohlstedt, Acting Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Education, received the 2014 President's Award from the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) at the COGS Graduate Education Awards Ceremony on May 12.

"Sally has been a tireless supporter of graduate education and graduate students," says COGS Executive Board Member Roberto de Freitas. "In the past year, she has truly demonstrated her commitment to improving the success and visibility of graduate education."

Among her many contributions during the 2013-2014 academic year, Dr. Kohlstedt has advocated for more funding for graduate education, supported events such as graduate student orientation, the Graduate and Professional Education Assembly, the Graduate Revels and the Doctoral Research Showcase, and raised awareness of national and international trends in graduate education.

A professor in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine graduate program, Dr. Kohlstedt has been Acting Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Education since September 2013 and will be stepping down in September 2014.

"Sally is one of the most inspiring champions of graduate education," says de Freitas. "She will be sorely missed."
