Awarding Advising Excellence
The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GAPSA) knows that the quality of advising has a significant impact on graduate and professional student success, the student experience, and timely degree completion. Faculty are often evaluated based on their research, funding, and teaching, but there are few opportunities to recognize faculty who have gone out of their way to provide a positive and productive learning environment for their graduate and professional students.
That's why GAPSA, in partnership with the Student Conflict Resolution Center, the Provost's Office, and the Graduate School, created the Outstanding Advisor Award – an effort to acknowledge excellent advising among U of M graduate and professional faculty. The winners of the 2013 GAPSA Outstanding Advisor Award were recognized at GAPSA's Annual President's Reception on November 4. Nominated by students, five graduate and professional faculty were presented with awards this year. Congratulations!
