OTHER INFORMATION AND DEGREE EQUIVALENCE

The BA, BCom, and BSc degrees are three-year programs based on an intermediate exam which represents 12 years of schooling, and these degrees are not considered comparable to the US bachelor’s degree.  Holders of these three year degrees may do one of the following to achieve US bachelor’s degree equivalence:

 1.  complete the first year of an Indian master’s degree.

 2.  complete a 1 year post-grad diploma from an Indian university.

 3.  complete a 1 year post-grad diploma (from an Indian college) which is accredited by AICTE (All Indian Council for Technical Education).

Master’s degrees (MA, MSc, MCom) are usually two years in length.  The first year gives the student US bachelor’s equivalence.  The second year is considered comparable to a one year US master’s degree, and transfer credit is accepted from the second year.
