The “Elevator Pitch” is a 30-second introduction of your academic and professional interests, typically shared with individuals whom you wish to include in your network. It is an essential tool for articulating your goals and catching the attention of potential employers. This free workshop will focus on developing and delivering the elevator pitch and tailoring to your audience. Students will practice writing/presenting in small groups. Register >

Employment-based Visas and Permanent Residency Workshop

April 8, 2015 - 4pm to 6pm | 235 Blegen Hall

An immigration specialist from a local immigration law firm will give an overview of employment-based visa options such as H-1B, O-1, and L-1 visas. Beyond the Degree: International Alumni Panel

March 26, 2015 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm | Murphy Hall, Room 130

In partnership with the Minnesota International Student Association, the the Office for Student Affairs will be hosting an alumni panel entitled "Beyond the Degree." A panel of University of Minnesota international alumni from various colleges, including CBS, CFANS, and Carlson, and various degree levels will talk about the challenges and rewards of building a career and life in the U.S. after receiving their degrees. They will discuss a range of topics from work visas to cultural differences and national identity. All international students at all degree levels and from all colleges are welcome. Co-Hosted by Minnesota International Student Association as part of International Student Month at the University of Minnesota. Students must register via Goldpass.

Star of the North Fellowship Program

The State of Minnesota is offering year-long fellowship opportunities in the Twin Cities area beginning July 1, 2015. The fellowship program is open to applicants who have or will soon attain advanced degrees, and who demonstrate an interest in a career in public service. Several state agencies—Administration, Commerce, Human Services, Transportation, and Revenue—are participating at this time.

Postdoctoral Fellowship at Macalester

Macalester College invites applications for an eleven-month postdoctoral fellowship in the Digital Liberal Arts (Aug. 2015-June 2016), with the possibility of renewal. The position is generously funded by an award to Macalester by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation which aims to prepare students and faculty members for active scholarship and citizenship in the digital age. View position description >
