Who is it for?

The GSFSI is for University of Minnesota Ph.D. students and postdocs from all disciplines who want their research to make a difference in the world, whether in an academic setting or a non-academic one. Do you see yourself as a scholar/researcher taking on a wicked problem in collaboration with a diverse and innovative team?  Are you interested in learning how to work with others across disciplinary—and other—boundaries to make a lasting impact with your research?  Then the GSFSI is for you.  Students and postdocs need to apply. Enrollment is limited to 50 – 75 participants.

When is it offered?

The GSFSI will be offered during the week of August 15–19, 2016. Participants need to be able to commit to the full week, from 9:00 am. – 4:30 p.m. each day (Monday through Friday).

What does it cost?

The GSFSI is free, including the self-assessment required for participation and daily lunch.

How do I apply?

The application deadline has been extended through Monday, April 18, 2016. Application materials include a brief application, a personal statement, a description of the applicant’s current or planned research, and a brief letter of recommendation from the applicant’s adviser (Ph.D. students) or supervisor (postdocs).
