Welcome to The Graduate School's web site. Whether you are a prospective or current student, a postdoctoral, a faculty member, an alumnus, or someone seeking to learn about our research and graduate education programs, you will find here links to much valuable information.
The University of Minnesota has one of the country's largest and most wide-ranging graduate schools. We have over 10,000 graduate students, of whom 26% are international, and admit about 2,300 new students each year. The breadth of faculty expertise, spanning more than 180 graduate programs, provides opportunity for an enormous range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies. We have one of the best university libraries in the country, and are a pioneer in Internet access. The Twin Cities, one of the most attractive and lively metropolitan areas in the United States, provides many cultural and recreational opportunities that complement those offered by the University.
This web site is intended to serve The Graduate School's mission of making the advanced teaching and research of the University as effective as possible by providing efficient and innovative central services; promulgating best practices in graduate education; providing competitive support to the best faculty and students; providing support for the most promising interdisciplinary research; and working with the Provost to support college and intercollegiate programs.
