The Division of Health Services Research and Policy, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota seeks a Post-doctoral Associate to work at the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC), a research and technical assistance center located at the University of Minnesota. Duties: Analyze data, develop variable coding schemes, document variable comparability issues, and develop and verify sample designs; conduct highly technical statistical analysis and synthesize results into clear, concise, and understandable reports; collaborate with principal investigator on grant agency reports and publications of findings, including Sponsored Project reports, grant final reports, conference papers, and articles for publication; participate intellectually with faculty and graduate student members; present research at scholarly conferences and preferably publish related research in academic journals; work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Travel may be required.
Required Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in health services research, epidemiology, or related public health field; ability to design research studies, manage data collection activities, develop and execute highly technical statistical analyses and synthesize the results into clear, concise, and understandable reports and presentations; strong data collection methodology, organization, statistical analysis, and English verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Some travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of federal and state health care policy and programs; advanced data analysis skills; at least one year of experience with large, complex datasets; demonstrated ability to write for varied professional and lay audiences.
This 12-month, 100% time appointment is annually reviewable, dependent upon continued funding, and offers fringe benefits as defined for the post-doctoral associate position and in keeping with meeting specific eligibility requirements. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Application deadline is November 3, 2004.
