Department of Family Medicine & Community Health (DFMCH)
Posted on 05/11/2005
BACKGROUND
Ranked among the top five NIH funded family medicine departments, DFMCH has an extensive research support group and a large cadre of research-productive faculty in areas such as women’s health, chronic disease, preventive medicine, depression, and human sexuality. Our program prepares family physicians for successful careers in academic research. Our training focus is on research, but skills in education, communication, administration, and professional academics are also addressed to ensure the success of our fellows in tenure track positions.
FELLOWSHIP
We invite applications to a three-year fellowship to train family physicians for successful careers in academic research. We offer formal coursework, including the completion of a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Research that is offered through the School of Public Health, Division of Epidemiology. Within our department, seminars and skills workshops, research dissemination, education training, and collegiality/networking are part of our fellowship program. To maintain clinical skills, fellows are required to provide patient care or precept residents one day per week. We assist in grant proposal development and submission in order to support our fellows’ future research endeavors as tenure track family medicine faculty.
ELIGIBILITY
