Graduate education transformation under way

University of Minnesota graduate education is among the best in the nation, with top programs in many fields and a strong commitment to excellence, diversity, interdisciplinary study, and innovation. Our graduate student satisfaction rates are high. This year, after five years of dramatic improvements implemented in undergraduate education, the University has embarked on an ambitious plan to further advance graduate and professional education. Work groups are preparing recommendations on academic issues and student administrative processes this fall, and a search has been completed for a new vice provost and dean of graduate education. Vice provost and dean of graduate education named

Dr. Henning SchroederHenning Schroeder, professor and associate dean in the College of Pharmacy, has been named vice provost and dean of graduate education, effective January 19, 2010. Provost Sullivan made the announcement following a comprehensive internal search. The appointment was made as part of a set of decisions for restructuring graduate and professional education, announced by President Bruininks June 26.
