Professor McNamara is in the Department of History at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He has also been the convener of the Disability Studies Initiative and co-convener of the Mexico-Minnesota Dialogue: Past, Present, Future, two collaborative groups associated with the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). He was awarded CLA's Arthur "Red" Motley award for Teaching Excellence in 2008-2009.
