Background
The Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU)
was established in 1996 but is a continuation of the academic traditions
in Trondheim that stretch back to Schola Cathedralis Nidarosiensis which
was founded in the year 1210. NTNU has its modern roots in the Norwegian
Institute of Technology (founded in 1910) and the College of Arts and
Sciences (founded in 1984). Today, it is a thriving campus offering degrees
in Engineering, Architecture, Humanities, and the Social and Natural Sciences.
Students at NTNU are encouraged to study abroad, and in the same spirit,
NTNU welcomes students from all around the world; over 1,000 foreign students
are currently studying at NTNU.
