To support individuals pursuing advanced
research that contributes to scholarly knowledge or to the public's
understanding of the humanities. |
| Eligibility Requirements |
Cannot have held a NEH Summer Stipend
in the previous 5 years; cannot have received a major fellowship
or research grant in previous 3 years (a major fellowship or
research grant is a postdoc research award that provides a stipend
of at least $10,000 from other than one's employer). Sabbaticals
or other summer research stipends do not make one ineligible. |
| Disciplines Included |
Humanities includes, but is not
limited to, the study of the following: language, both modern and classical;
linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology,
comparative religion; ethics; the history, theory and criticism of the arts;
those aspects of social sciences which have humanistic content and employ
humanistic methods; and the study and application of the humanities to the
human environment with particular attention to reflecting our diverse heritage,
traditions, and history and to the relevance of the humanities to the current
conditions of national life. |
