The following are useful and necessary reference sources:
The Graduate School is governed by a constitution (www.grad.umn.edu/faculty-staff/governance/policies/constitution/ ) drafted by a committee of the graduate faculty and graduate students. The constitution was originally approved by the Graduate School on June 12, 1975, and ratified by the Board of Regents on October 10, 1975. Major revisions were approved in a Constitutional Assembly on March 26, 2002. The Executive Vice President and Provost (now the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost) approved the current Graduate School constitution on May 13, 2002.

Major Graduate School activities and deadlines are featured on the Graduate School’s online calendar (www.grad.umn.edu/calendar/), which is updated throughout the academic year.

Graduate School Catalog
The Graduate School catalog is published in odd-numbered years by Student Support Services Communications (SSC). The short "General Information" section at the front of the catalog outlines Graduate School policies and procedures. The remainder contains program descriptions, course offerings, and graduate faculty. The catalog is available in the Graduate School (in the hall outside 309 Johnston Hall) or on the Web (www.grad.umn.edu/catalog/).
Duluth Catalog
Published in odd-numbered years, this general catalog (http://www.d.umn.edu/catalogs/) contains a short section on graduate degree requirements and statements from each department at Duluth that offers a graduate degree. The Duluth catalog can be obtained from the Admissions and Prospective Student Office, University of Minnesota, Duluth.
Graduate Assistant Employment Office
The Graduate Assistantship Employment Office is housed within the Office of Human Resources. Information concerning graduate assistantship employment is available at 200 Donhowe Building (612-624-7070 or gaoinfo@umn.edu).
Graduate Student Handbook
The Graduate Student Handbook ( www.grad.umn.edu/current_students/handbook/ )
pulls together information from a multitude of sources and is sent electronically with the letter of admission to every newly admitted graduate student.
Publications for Students with Disabilities

International Student and Scholar Services
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is the office dedicated to serving the University of Minnesota's international community. Its primary mission is to assist international students and scholars in successfully accomplishing the goals that brought them to the University, by using all available resources. One Stop
The One Stop student home page (http://www.onestop.umn.edu/onestop/index.html) contains a wealth of information related to registration, tuition, finances, and student services. Included on this site are the Class Schedule (which lists the courses offered in a particular term), current tuition rates, and access to the University’s registration system, among many other resources.
Graduate Faculty Roster
The online Graduate Faculty Roster ( www.grad.umn.edu/faculty_rosters/ ) contains a complete listing of graduate faculty members. Appointments can be searched by the faculty member’s name or graduate program name.
Listservs for DGSs and DGS Assistants
The Graduate School maintains email listservs for Directors of Graduate Studies (DGSs are added and removed by Graduate School staff). These listservs are the primary channel for communications from the Graduate School to all DGSs.
In addition, there is a listserv open to the University community but intended for administrative assistants of DGSs. Most messages sent to the DGS listservs will also be sent to the “dgs-assts” listserv. To subscribe, send an email to listserv@umn.edu with one line in the body:

Graduate School Executive Committee Minutes
The Executive Committee meets once per semester during the academic year to review and recommend the approval, modification, or discontinuation of graduate degree programs; to establish or modify policy for individual graduate programs; and to generally oversee the administration of graduate education at the University of Minnesota. Graduate School Policy and Review Council Minutes
Six Policy and Review Councils, composed of programs of study assigned on the basis of subject matter relationships, meet once each semester during the academic year. Council minutes are available on the Web and include Council recommendations with respect to individual 8xxx‑level course proposals, discussion and recommendations regarding proposed graduate degree programs or major modifications of existing programs, and recommendations concerning policy for the administration of graduate education. Directors of graduate studies are encouraged to bring to the attention of their program's Policy and Review Council any matters that would benefit from discussion by the Council. The Policy and Review Council meeting dates and associated deadlines for each semester are also posted on the Web.

Reports Distributed Regularly or Available to Departments on Request
The Graduate School maintains data unique to graduate students, programs, and faculty for reporting purposes. (see Data Management section)
Research News Online
Published bi-weekly by the Office of Sponsored Projects (SPA) for the Office of the Vice President for Research, this newsletter includes informational articles on grants management issues, policy changes of both the University and sponsoring agencies, and specific program announcements including grant opportunities and program deadlines. In addition, program events of interest to the University of Minnesota research community are featured in issues of the Research News Online. Research News Online is distributed to professorial staff on all campuses and to other staff and graduate students on request.
