Policy Change for 8666 (Doctoral Pre-thesis Credits)

Effective Summer 2007, The Graduate School will limit to 6 the number of 8666 credits for which a doctoral student may register in any fall, spring, or summer term. The Graduate School will also limit registrations of 8666 to two instances and to 12 credits. With graduate program consent, students may register for 8666 up to four times, for a total accumulation of 24 8666 credits.

Attributes of 8666, effective summer 2007:

  • Prerequisite: Doctoral student who has not passed prelim oral
  • 1-6 cr; max 6 cr per fall, spring, or summer term
  • Up to 2 repetitions, totaling up to 12 credits, allowed
  • Graduate program consent for the third and fourth registrations, for up to an additional 12 cr (or 24 cr total)
