Problem Solving
This website is a resource for helping graduate and professional
students and postdocs:
- have easy access to information and resources across a variety
of questions and concerns
- understand ethical issues related to being in a graduate
or professional degree program
- enhance the quality of the graduate and professional program
experience
The experience of being a graduate or professional student might
not always be as smooth as you expected. You may find yourself distracted
by a variety of problems. You might simply be confused by all the
rules and deadlines at the U.
To successfully pursue an advanced or professional degree, you
need to be able to find information about administrative policies
and procedures, know whom to ask, and how to deal with potential
conflict situations. When disagreements or conflicts arise, it is
critical to be able to find appropriate sources of information and
support.
The questions included in this site are only a finite sample, but
we hope they are representative and quickly point you to the appropriate
person or office for additional information, to supply answers,
or provide support to avoid or informally resolve disputes. The questions are divided into four sections:
Under Tips & Resources you'll find materials and information on handling conflict situations from U of M offices and other sources.
After looking at this website, if you are unsure of the appropriate
resource, or if you have other questions (and answers) which you
would like to see added to the website, please contact problems@umn.edu
