commencement ceremony will be Friday, May 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m.
in Northrop Auditorium.
Prior to the Ceremony
Deadline
for participation: Graduate students interested in participating
in the Spring commencement ceremony must submit their Commencement
Attendance Approval Form to the Graduate Student Services and
Progress Office, 316 Johnston Hall, by March 3, 2008.
Ordering academic costume:
Students can order academic regalia in person or by phone through
the Bookstore in Coffman Memorial Union (625-6000) or Books Underground
on the St. Paul Campus (625-3138); or via the Bookstore's
website.
Students may also attend GradFest to order academic regalia.
GradFest is a convenient way to order regalia and even get a graduation photo taken.

Student regalia order deadline: Thursday, March 27, 2008. Students ordering after March 27th will be subject to late fees.
Faculty regalia order deadline: Friday, April 4, 2008.
Tickets:
No tickets are required for the ceremony; seating is on a first-come,
first-served basis.

Day of the Ceremony
Student check
in: Students should report to the Northrop Mall by 11:30 a.m.
with their academic costumes. Please note that early check in is encouraged. If you are a doctoral graduate, please
be sure to bring your hood. In case of inclement weather, student line-up
will be moved to the second floor of Northrop Auditorium. A secure
"coat check" will not be available; thus, graduates are
strongly encouraged to leave personal belongings at home or with
family/friends in attendance.
Faculty check
in: Faculty should report to the backstage area of Northrop
Auditorium by 12:15 p.m. with their academic costume. Faculty with
rented regalia can pick up their academic costumes in Room 5 of
Northrop prior to reporting backstage. Room 5 will open between
noon and 12:15 p.m. A secure "coat check" will not be
available; thus, the faculty are strongly encouraged not to bring
personal belongings with them to the ceremony.
Commencement Address: TBA
Length of
ceremony: The ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. Guests are asked to be seated no later than 12:45 p.m. The ceremony will last approximately 2½ - 3 hours.
Reception:
A reception on Northrop Plaza will immediately follow the
ceremony. Graduates, faculty, family, and friends are invited to
attend. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the lobby of Northrop Auditorium.
Photos:
Please be advised that state fire regulations strictly prohibit
standing in the aisles or in front of the Northrop Auditorium stage.
Guests wishing to take photos are asked to do so from their seats
during the ceremony.
Parking:
Graduates, guests, and faculty may park in the 4th Street Ramp located
on 4th Street SE and 17th Avenue SE or the Washington Avenue Ramp
at Washington and Harvard. Parking also is available at the Church
Street Garage, just east of Northrop Auditorium. Please be advised,
however, that parking at the Church Street Garage is extremely limited.
Persons with limited mobility can be dropped off at the ground-level
entrance on the east side of Northrop Auditorium.

not imply that you have officially graduated. Please contact the
Graduate Student Services Office (see master's and doctoral contact
information above) with any questions you have and/or to confirm
